Update on Guyana’s 2020 General Election

Guyana’s 2020 general election has illustrated the country’s increasingly contested political landscape – with a vote recount appearing to flip the original result in favour of the opposition, the People’s Progressive Party, pending commission approval. Against a background of significant offshore oil reserve discoveries in 2015, the stage may be set for the PPP to lead Guyana to a major economic transformation.
