Tenure-track Assistant Professor position in gender/sexuality or race/ethnicity and the study of religion
Description
The Department of Religious Studies at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in gender/sexuality or race/ethnicity and the study of religion. Areas of specialization and methodological approach are open, with priority given to candidates who have an interdisciplinary, comparative or transnational research agenda. The position will contribute to the undergraduate and graduate programs in Religious Studies. The department will support the hire through mentoring and professional development. The teaching load is 2/2 and the position will begin in August 2020. Salary will be commensurate with rank and experience.

Qualifications
The successful candidates should have a Ph.D. in hand by August 15, 2020, should demonstrate potential for a successful publishing and research trajectory, and should have a solid record as an effective classroom teacher or a teaching philosophy helping to ensure success in the classroom. Applicants to this position should demonstrate ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Religious Studies.
We expect the successful candidate to develop strong research and publishing programs; to direct dissertations, MA reports, and honors theses; to advise students working in Religious Studies; and to exhibit a commitment to service to the department, college, and university.
