Gloria Steinem ’56 Endowed Chair in Women and Gender Studies at Smith College

Smith College invites applications for the inaugural Gloria Steinem ’56 Endowed Chair in the Program for the Study of Women and Gender. We seek a senior scholar of women, gender and/or sexuality studies with a focus on race and/or indigeneity in any region of the world. The successful applicant will join the Program for the Study of Women and Gender with a reputation for excellence in research and teaching. Successful candidates should be prepared to engage actively with diverse students across the liberal arts. This position also offers the opportunity to participate in the Meridians: feminism, race, transnationalism project, an award-winning joint
venture of Smith College and Duke University Press.

This is a search for a senior and tenured appointment to begin July 1, 2022. Teaching responsibilities will regularly include 200 and 300-level courses in the professor’s specialization, as well as contributions to the Study of Women and Gender Program’s core curriculum, including annually teaching the introductory course.
