Geography Instructor

The College of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences invites applications for a full-time (.75FTE), 12-month, fixed-term Geography Instructor. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Dean.

The primary purpose of this position is to develop and deliver on-campus and online (ecampus) courses in world geography, environmental and climate justice, and sustainability for the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences (CEOAS) at OSU.

This 0.75 FTE, 12-month position approximates a traditional 1.0 FTE, 9-month instructional role, but includes security and benefits often not included in a 9-month position, such as paid vacation leave and year-round income. The successful candidate may be offered opportunities to teach additional courses or to pursue research funding within their field of expertise. Although not required for the position, these additional opportunities reflect the College’s understanding of the critical nature of ongoing professional growth and development for all faculty members.

This position supports the Geography Program’s themes of global change risk and resilience, dynamic earth processes, and geospatial modeling and analysis, and will help achieve Oregon State University’s vision of inclusive excellence, which aims to value, engage, and build from the rich diversity of its community members. Instructors in the Geography and Geospatial Science Program are integral and valued members of the program who contribute to teaching, service, and our vision of the program’s future. In addition to instruction, the incumbent will be responsible for course and curriculum development, online course and digital content development, in part in collaboration with other faculty, and coordination of online and face-to-face course content. This position may direct student research projects and internships, serve on student committees, and is expected to contribute to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts in the Geography and Geospatial program, CEOAS, and OSU.
