Junior Professor of British Studies

Bielefeld University invites applications for the following position in the Faculty of Linguistics and Literary Studies, Department of British and American Studies:
Junior Professor (salary group W1) of British Studies (with a focus on Migration and Anglophone Cultures of the Global South)

Appointment is scheduled for the earliest possible date.

The appointee will have civil servant status (Beamtenstatus).

The holder of the position should have a research focus in Anglophone Literatures and Cultures of the Global South (e.g., South-East Asia, Australia, New Zealand, India, Africa, the Caribbean) and a British Studies perspective on the manifestation of transatlantic migration phenomena in literature, culture and the media.

Teaching will take place across the spectrum of the department’s literary and cultural studies programmes. The post holder will also participate in examination and administration duties, and cooperate with the other sections of the department as well as the other departments in the faculty in teaching, research and in the development of joint research projects.

The qualifications sought are a postgraduate degree in a discipline connected to the field and a PhD in English or British Studies, as well as teaching skills and ability. Applicants are expected to have English skills at L1 level. The employment is first limited to three years with an optional extension of three additional years after positive interim evaluation. The evaluation procedure follows the regulations from the guide for junior professorships
