GIS Cartography Research Associate

A GIS Cartography Research Associate is required to conduct research, data gathering, mapping, and create impactful visualisations of exposures, hazards and vulnerabilities across at least 5 communities in The Commonwealth of Dominica. The aim of this role is to help develop and communicate public understandings of hurricane risk & resilience on the small island state for the Caribbean Cyclone Cartography (CCC) project.

The Research Associate will be based at the Mona Geoinformatics Institute (MGI), University of the West Indies (Mona, Jamaica) and travel to Dominica for extended fieldwork (6 months). At MGI, the Research Associate will develop a collection methodology that utilises existing and newly-collected primary data, develop spatial analyses and utilise their cartographic skills to build a public-facing hurricane risk and resilience map of Dominica.

The duration of the post is 30 months, running from September 2020 through to February 2023.

Salary: £29,000.
