Caribbean Conjunctures: CSA Journal – Call for Papers

CSA at 50!

The Caribbean Studies Association is pleased to announce an immediate call for submissions for our 50th Anniversary volume. We are proud to celebrate our 50th anniversary. To commemorate our half a century of scholarship and academic pursuit, Caribbean Conjunctures, The CSA journal will be publishing a special issue that reflects the scholarship of Caribbean academics, and which also provides a trajectory of the region in all areas over the last fifty years.  We are inviting submissions on topics related to but not exclusive to the following:

SUGGESTED TOPICS FOR PRESENTATION INCLUDE, but are not limited to:

  • Culture, Politics, Society, History, Law and Economics in the Caribbean
  • Caribbean Biodiversity and Current Environmental Challenges in the Caribbean
  • Migrations, Diasporas and Connections in the Caribbean
  • The Languages, Literatures and Cultures of the Caribbean
  • Caribbean Drama, Poetry, Fiction, Non-Fiction, Cinema, Essays, Memoirs.
  • Representations of Race, Gender, Class and Ethnicity in the Caribbean
  • Creole Linguistics and the Creolization of Languages in the Caribbean
  • Art, Music, Dance, Cuisine, and Popular Culture of the Caribbean
  • Caribbean and Diasporic Carnivals, Religions, Spiritualities, and Other Performance Traditions

Submissions can be individually written or collaborative and can take the form of essays, articles, interviews and personal reflections.

Please send abstracts ASAP to: csajournal@caribbeanstudiesassociation.org

Abstracts should be no more than 300 words long

Along with the abstract, please include:

  1. author’s name, e-mail address, and institutional affiliation)
  2. a brief biography of 100 words

Submission guidelines:

  • Abstracts as well as papers submitted may be in English, Spanish, French and Dutch and/or Papiamento (the four languages of CSA).
  • Essays and Interview submissions must be no longer than 3000 words or no more than 25 pages, including notes.
  • Book reviews should be no less than 500 words and no more than 1000 words;
  • Articles can be between 1000 to 2000 words.
  • All visual art must be sent in jpeg format.

Notifications of Acceptance May 31st, 2024.

Complete essays and articles will be due by July 2024 in order to have the publication ready by December 2024.

All revisions will be due 2 weeks after comments by peer reviewers.
