CAREC 2018 Renewable Energy and Smart-Grid Conference

Dear Students,

You’re invited to attend the CARILEC Renewable Energy Community (CAREC) 2018 Renewable Energy and Smart-Grid Conference & Tradeshow, at the Hilton, Downtown Miami, from the 23rd to the 27th September, 2018. Renewable Energy is one of the most urgent challenges of this century that the world must address. The scientific community is unanimous in telling us that if we do not rapidly switch from fossil fuels to renewable energy there is a danger that global warming will pass a tipping point beyond which uncontrollable feedback loops will lead to drastically increased temperatures.

The Conference, which is being held under the theme: “Energy Resilience and Independence”, will gather dynamic researchers, thought leaders, development partners, CARILEC Renewable Energy Community (CAREC) ambassadors, policy makers, regulators, utility and energy professionals. This conference will provide students with a unique platform to delve deeply into renewable energy and resilience from both a global and a regional perspective. The event will feature interactive-style workshops, networking opportunities, peer-to-peer learning and practical demonstrations of renewable energy best practice, resiliency planning, and disaster management.

The conference will also feature a Student Competition Segment, for under and post graduate students to present on a topic related to Energy Resilience, and Independence as it relates to the Caribbean Energy Sector. Your presentation will be judged by the audience. The winner of the student competition will have the opportunity to have his or her work published in a CARILEC Journal, share his or her work with the over 900 CAREC members made up of persons from all facets of the energy sector, and receive a Complimentary registration to our next conference in 2019. This session will be held on September 26th from 4:40 p.m., interested students can contact araymond@carilec.org for more details.

With this in mind, the CARILEC Secretariat is offering a special student rate of $100USD per day to all students interested in attending this impactful knowledge sharing Energy Conference.

Students can also register for a hands-on CAREC training at an attractive low rate to encourage your participation.
