Call for Papers: “Black Artists in the Atlantic World, ca. 1500-1900,” Special Issue of Arts
We are thrilled to announce that the first round of articles for our Special Issue of Arts, “Black Artists in the Atlantic World, ca. 1500-1900 CE,” has been published online. The issue includes essays from Stephanie Beck Cohen, Emily K. Thames, Miguel A. Valerio, and Rachel A. Zimmerman focusing on rich case studies from Liberia, Puerto Rico, and Brazil. We are expecting an additional three articles in the coming year that will cover New Spain, the Andes, and New Orleans. At the present time, we are reopening the Call for Papers for another round of submissions to close out/complete this Special Issue. We welcome all original proposals for previously unpublished manuscripts, and we are especially interested in actors/geographies that have yet to be considered in the issue.
Please submit 250 word abstracts by October 31, 2023 through the MDPI website portal. The final drafts of the selected essays will be due by April 30, 2024.
Thanks to a special waiver, no subventions or publishing fees will be required for essays in this Special Issue.
