Over the past years, the CSA book drive has been a successful tradition at our annual conferences. The Executive Council encourages members to bring academic books to donate to the local schools in the country where the conference is hosted. All books are welcomed, and can range from scientific studies of the Caribbean to novels.
The CSA executive recommends members to start collecting their books as soon as possible and to walk with at least one text book from their discipline to be donated to local St. Croix schools. These books can be current or slightly older editions of textbooks you use in your classroom for teaching. Books in any language are appreciated because many students are trying to learn English, French and Spanish. New books will help St. Croix’s young people practice their foreign language reading skills.
At the conference site there will be an area near the Secretariat’s desk designated for donated books. The total number of books collected will be announced at the end of the conference.
As CSA members, our presence at any host country should be felt in the little things we do. With your effort donating to this book drive, we will be able to impact the local community by providing material that will stimulate the future intellectual development of the next generation of scholars from St. Croix.
The members of the Executive Council thank you in advance for making the 2023 book drive a success.
