2026 CSA Conference – Annual Book Drive
The Caribbean Studies Association’s annual Book Drive has become one of our most meaningful and inspiring traditions. As we prepare to gather in Jamaica for the 2026 conference, the Executive Council warmly invites every member attending to participate by bringing a book donation for local schools and students in Jamaica.
Every book matters. Whether it is a scholarly work on the Caribbean, a novel, a children’s book, a language text, or a classroom textbook (new or gently used), your contribution can open doors for a young reader. Authors are especially encouraged to donate signed copies of their works, helping inspire the next generation of Caribbean thinkers, writers, and scholars.
Books in all languages are welcome. Many Jamaican students are actively developing their skills in English, French, Dutch, Papiamento, and Spanish, and donated books provide valuable opportunities to strengthen literacy and language learning while broadening access to global and Caribbean perspectives.
During the conference at the Pegasus Hotel, a designated collection box will be available at the Secretariat desk for easy drop-off of donations. At the close of the conference, the CSA President will announce the total number of books collected—a shared achievement that reflects the generosity and collective spirit of our membership.
Over the years, many CSA members have expressed a desire for our annual meetings to leave a more direct and lasting impact within our host countries. The Book Drive is one tangible way we can give back to the communities welcoming us. It is an opportunity to support the intellectual growth, imagination, and educational development of Jamaica’s youth while building stronger connections between our organization and the wider Caribbean community.
We encourage you to bring one book—or several, if you are able. Every contribution helps build a richer future for young readers and learners.
The Executive Council thanks you in advance for helping make the CSA Jamaica Book Drive 2026 a resounding success. Together, we can ensure that our presence in Jamaica leaves not only memories of scholarship and fellowship, but also a meaningful investment in the next generation.
