Fallece Ana Cairo Ballester, Miembro de la Academia de la Historia de Cuba y Premio Nacional de Ciencias Sociales y Humanísticas
En la madrugada de este miércoles 3 de abril, ha fallecido la Doctora Ana Cairo Ballester. Estimada en los medios universitarios e intelectuales cubanos por sus destacados aportes al desarrollo de los estudios sobre pensamiento, cultura y literatura cubanas, deja un profundo dolor entre sus familiares, compañeros y amigos. Nos abandona cuando su producción intelectual alcanzaba la mayor madurez y acumulaba un conocimiento poco común. Miembro de la Academia de la Historia de Cuba y Profesora de la Universidad de la Habana desde 1973; Doctora en Ciencias Filológicas en 1985, ha escrito un notable grupo de obras de imprescindible consulta. Entre ellas se destacan El movimiento de veteranos y patriotas; Historia de la Universidad de la Habana (en coautoría); La Revolución del 30 en la narrativa y el testimonio cubanos; a ello se añaden sus compilaciones, que en conjunto aparecen como Colección Letra. Cultura en Cuba. Entre estos libros merecen ser mencionados Heredia entre cubanos y españoles; Mella: cien años; Antonio Guiteras: cien años; Viaje a los frutos; Eduardo Chibás: Imaginarios. En el 2015, obtuvo el Premio Nacional de Ciencias Sociales y Humanísticas.
