Nassau, New Providence, The Bahamas June 5-10, 2017


The CSA invites publishers to exhibit books published in French, Spanish, Dutch, English, and creole languages at the “mini-book fair” for the 42th annual meeting, to be held in the island of New Providence, Bahamas, between June 5th and 10th, 2017. Although it has taken us some more time than in previous years, the organizing committee of the book exhibit has finally fine-tuned the details of this call for participation addressed to publishers and any other companies (which activities cover the Greater Caribbean) to exhibit books and/or advertise your products and services.

The 500-plus members of the association particularly look forward every year to the opportunity to visit the Book Exhibit space on the conference site. This is where we find out what new publications in our fields reflect our interests, select books for course adoption and for our research, and get the chance to interact with the publishers and authors in person. We appreciate your commitment to continue publishing books in a world where the long-term future of the printed book is so uncertain.

Given the multilingual and interdisciplinary nature of our Association, the annual Book Exhibit presents members, including scholars, academics, artists, activists, practitioners and allied professionals, with a grand opportunity to browse and purchase books outside of their specific disciplinary and language domains. In this regard, we especially welcome, and therefore encourage, the registration and attendance of publishers from non-English speaking countries or publishers with books in Spanish, French, Dutch, Portuguese, and in any of our Caribbean Creoles, which are the very representative languages of our greater Caribbean.


This year we have added other services in the price list (see table below). The CSA is now offering display space for US$400 per table or US$275 for half a table for the week. By having such space, you can display your books, order forms, flyers, banners, and other relevant materials for the duration of the conference. If a representative from your organization cannot attend the conference, you can still arrange to have books or flyers (or a single book or flyer) displayed in your absence for an additional fee of US $100 (that is, $400+$100 or $275+$100). This ensures that staff of the CSA Local Organizing Committee (LOC) will oversee and guarantee the integrity of these items for you during the week; however, they will not be able to make any sales. Please note that there might be additional costs for shipping the books and other material to Nassau, such as customs taxes. The LOC will not be responsible for shipping or other related costs; however, it can assist in providing some personalized shipping tips and options based on your own  inquiries  in  this  regard.  (See  contact  persons  below.)  Please,  see  the  CSA  website (www.caribbeanstudiesassociation.com) for other important details.

CSA members, duly registered, will also have a space to display their personal titles (single- authored or edited volumes) in a combined “members’ table”.


We also encourage you to consider a number of advertising options for your publisher, company or organization. Advertising in the conference program book is highly recommended since every conference attendee wants to keep a copy of the program book for future reference; additionally, the program book is the only comprehensive document that transcends the conference itself, as it reaches other colleagues and friends in the wider academic communities in many countries. The images should be sent to both contact emails listed at the end of this document. They should be pre-formatted according to the desired size and orientation (vertical or landscape), designed in gray scale or black and white, and saved in PDF format.

Please, see the table below for a complete list of displaying and advertising options and prices. Note that Book Exhibit and Advertisement  payments should be made directly through the CSA website only after the reception of the CSA official invoice issued upon your request.

We encourage you to begin the process of making arrangements to exhibit your books and other material now. However, the following deadlines should be noted:

  1.  Initial registration for the book exhibit, advertising requests, and the invoicing process starts now until April 1
  2. In case of advertisement request, the art work/images to be included in the program book should be submitted with the technical specifications enumerated above and the relevant invoice should be paid for by April 23 since the book goes to print soon after that date.
  3. Coordination and final arrangements (e.g., confirmation of participation, payment fordisplay space) must be made not later than May 8, 2017.
  4. Books and other materials should ideally be received by the LOC in Nassau by May 21 or befor Send packages to the address and contact person below:

This is a terrific opportunity to mingle with book lovers for five days. In order to display your books, you are not required to be registered for the conference. However, we do encourage you to also consider registering for the conference as this would allow you to attend panels during the entire conference week. We also hope that you will participate in our Book Launch sessions during which we will announce the recipient of the Gordon K. Lewis Award.
